# Crystal Caves

> Crystal Caves is a world-class crystal and fossil museum and tourist attraction located at 69 Main Street, Atherton, Queensland 4883, Australia. Just over an hour from Cairns in the Atherton Tablelands. Open 7 days, 9am–5pm (last entry 4pm). Home to the world's largest amethyst geode, standing over 3 metres tall and weighing 2.7 tonnes. Visitors can explore over 600 real mineral specimens, crystals, and fossils from around the world through a self-guided tour, crack open their own geode to take home, and browse the Fascinating Facets gift shop for crystal jewellery and souvenirs. Ideal for families, school groups, couples, and anyone visiting Tropical North Queensland.

Note: some sections narrow to 750mm, and there are 12 steps at the very end of the tour — visitors who can't manage them can return the way they came, and an accessible emergency exit is available.
