- •Stop at the Rocky Creek Igloo, part of the former Rocky Creek Hospital Complex, the largest military hospital in the Southern Hemisphere during WWII.
- •Visit the Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre, where you’ll find engaging displays about the region’s wartime history, pioneering heritage, and Indigenous culture.
- •Continue your return drive through Kuranda for a relaxed journey back to Cairns.

Time your visit for a Yungaburra Market day (held on the fourth Saturday of each month), one of the largest and most loved markets in Tropical Far North Queensland. Browse stalls filled with local produce, handmade crafts, jewellery, art, and delicious treats.
After exploring the markets, pop into Pluto & Nessi, the quirkiest little puzzle and game shop you’ll ever find. It’s packed with clever games, brainteasers, and gifts that delight both kids and adults.
Take a leisurely stroll through the village streets, there are boutique shops, art galleries, and cafés to enjoy.
Lunch – Country Pub Charm
Continue your journey to Atherton and enjoy lunch at the Carrington Hotel, right next door to The Crystal Caves. This modern pub serves generous meals and has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
