What is a geode?
44 Million Years in the Making
What is a geode?
Geodes are said to have formed 44 million years ago, when the earth was active with roaring volcanos and bubbles became trapped in molten lava.
After the lava cooled, silica and other minerals seeped into the hollow cavity and gradually lined the inside with crystals. Traces of iron and calcium created inclusions that determined the colour of the crystals you see today.
